Year 3’s Finishing Strong

Mrs McDonald’s Year 3 students are finishing the year strong and in true Vasse style for 2025.

This week, students wrapped up their final Kitchen Garden session by baking the much-loved gingerbread cookies. Throughout the program, they enjoyed going bug busting, observing monarch caterpillars grow and transform into beautiful butterflies, developing valuable cooking skills, and trying new and delicious vegetarian foods. Sharing a meal each session was a highlight and fostered a strong sense of community.

The Inquiry Extraordinaires of Room 28 also showcased their learning in Sustainability Inquiry by designing, building and testing sustainable fish farms. Students worked hard to meet sustainability criteria, ensuring their designs avoided environmental harm while withstanding the elements – and the mighty McDonald shark! Many students demonstrated impressive innovation and problem-solving as they explored real-world challenges faced in the aquaculture industry.

Finishing the year on a creative note, students received personalised departing sketchbooks, each lovingly illustrated with their name and a special Year 3 memory. These meaningful keepsakes celebrate creativity, connection and the wonderful memories made throughout the year – a perfect way to farewell Year 3 for The Diving Ba-nah-nah-nahs.
