Forty Music students from Vasse Primary School left at the crack of dawn on Friday 29 August to travel to Perth to perform at the One Big Voice concert at the RAC Arena.
Music Teacher, Karen Bigwood said the journey was a logistical challenge with a long rehearsal process leading up to concert. They learnt 11 songs with choreography in preparation for the event.
On the day, they left school at 5.30am to catch the bus before transferring to the train in Mandurah, where they boarded with five other schools, all participating in the concert. They arrived back at school at 5.30pm, so it was a huge day.
Some wonderful parent helpers assisted throughout the journey ensuring 40 lunch bags and 40 school jumpers were transported as well.
Mrs Bigwood said students who have an interest in Music, have opportunities to participate in a variety of community events.
“This event was spectacular, with all our students singing beautifully and behaving impeccably.”
The Vasse Primary School has a strong Music program where students practice singing and movement, as well as being given the opportunity to experiment with a variety of instruments from the well-resourced Music Room. Visiting tutors also offer private lessons in guitar, piano and drums.
