This week, in Room 24, the students have been learning about the importance of kindness.
After reading the book Chrysanthemum; a story about a mouse who gets teased for her name, the student reflected on times in which this has happened to them.
Every time they thought of a situation where an unkind word was said to them, the students put a wrinkle in their paper heart. After doing this several times, they then tried to get all of the wrinkles out, but it was harder than expected. “Before you speak, think and be smart. It’s hard to fix a wrinkled heart”
After completing this activity the students started to discuss random acts of kindness. They decided that it might be nice to spread the kindness with the rest of the school and delivered roses to the teachers, education assistance and front office ladies. They hope that the kindness they shared today, will encourage more acts of kindness to occur within the school and wider community.
Miss Emily Jones – Teacher
