Dear Parents/ Carers,
Reading helps children make sense of the world around them. It builds their curiosity, enhances their imagination, and is a wonderful source of entertainment. Reading plays a part in all important literacy skills and can help to build independence and self-confidence.
The Challenge runs from 8th May – 8th September 2023
Anyone from Kindergarten to Year 10 can register to take part in the challenge.
You can access over 7,000 book titles, which can be logged onto your child’s bookshelf.
While the challenge is for your child to log a minimum of 12 books, feel free to log more!
You can log a book that is on the booklist, or add a book. By logging books, your child can be in the running to win fantastic weekly prizes.
Each week, students who log their reading achievements will be eligible to win a prize. The weekly prize could be an experience, a fun day out, or a mystery technology prize.
There are 2 weekly prize draws which are divided into the following age categories:
1. Kindergarten to Year 4
2. Year 5 to Year 10.
The weekly prizes celebrate the student’s efforts in the challenge and provide encouragement to continue to improve their literacy skills as well as their enjoyment of reading.
Students who win the weekly draw will receive a prize.
The 2023 prizes include:
- a zip-line experience from the Matagarup Bridge
- wireless headphones
- book packs
- a Perth Zoo family pass
- cinema vouchers
- a kindle
- a Caversham Wildlife Park family pass
