This term has been a sensational introduction to summer sports and more with professional clinics for our students, past and present, during their Phys Ed sessions.
Golf
On Friday 1st November, Vasse Primary had the delightful honor of welcoming GolfWA for a free MyGolf in Schools program. Jordan McSkimming, the ever-enthusiastic Golf Development Officer, was genuinely impressed by our Vasse students. He noted they were engaged, respectful, and an absolute pleasure to teach the intricate basics of the golf swing.
For any student inspired to take their golfing skills further, Busselton Golf Club offers an exceptional program. They have fantastic junior and adult beginner sessions that cater to everyone.
Interested families can contact Busselton Golf Club directly at (08) 9753 1050 to explore beginner clinic options and start their golfing journey together.
Tennis
We were thrilled to secure the Term 4 Sporting School grant, which enabled us to host a fantastic Tennis program over four weeks with Coach Calum Macaulay from Busselton Tennis Club. With Coach Calum’s expert guidance, our students developed key tennis skills, such as serving, mastering groundstrokes (forehand and backhand), and executing volleys with quick reactions and net play.
In the final weeks, our Year 4 to 6 students participated in doubles matches, reinforcing the rules of the game, the value of fair play, and the importance of teamwork. This wonderful program provided our students with an enriching experience. A big thank you to Coach Calum for coming to Vasse Primary and introducing our students to the fabulous sport of tennis.
Cape Naturaliste College Students improve their coaching skills
Over six weeks, Year 11 Phys Ed Rec students from Cape Naturaliste College (CNC) had the rewarding opportunity to coach Year 3 students from Room 29 at Vasse Primary. This experience offered valuable insights into coaching juniors, with sports like soccer, football, basketball, and netball on the agenda.
Both Year 11 and Year 3 students enjoyed working in small groups, building great relationships with their CNC coaches. It’s always a pleasure and a positive experience for Cape Naturaliste College and Vasse Primary to collaborate, fostering strong community connections.
