Pre-Primary Revegetation Planting Incursion
14 June, 2022 @ 9:15 am - 10:45 am
Vasse Pre-Primary Teachers have organised a tree planting workshop on the boundary of the school grounds on Tuesday June 14th (15th if inclement weather).
This engaging, hands-on experience will support the Semester One Biological, and Earth and Space, Science topics. It will also add personal connection to our Cross-Curriculum priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, Connection to Country, and Sustainability outcomes. We are making connections in class to the local Buayanyup River and its catchment area. This pathway past our school links to the Buayanyup River trail extension.
The excursion will run as a rotation of 3 Pre-Primary groups:
Room 18 9.15 – 9.45am
Room 14 9.45 – 10.15am
Room 12 & Room 15 10.15 – 10.45am
The Year 6 students from Room 2 have partnered with us to provide buddies for the younger students. They will dig the hole for the tree and support a Pre-Primary to complete the planting. We will be using local provenance plant species grown by Geographe Community Landcare Nursery and provided by the City of Busselton.
City of Busselton have organised the resources and are also supporting us by sending two facilitators on the day.
Students will need to wear their school uniform and have enclosed shoes.
There is no cost for this excursion. We will be walking from our classrooms to the planting area which is along the pathway edging the Vasse Primary oval North side, near Arnup Drive.
Parents are welcome to attend this incursion. Please let your classroom teacher know if you plan to attend.
