Our Year 6 leaders were presented with an opportunity by Busselton Senior High School (BSHS) to participate in the 8th Annual Walk for The Tenderfeet Program on Friday 23rd September – a sponsored walk enabling hundreds of children to fulfil their dream to attend school in Kibera, Nairobi.
The walk began at Eagle Bay and ended at the Pullman Resort Bunker Bay with a reception and morning tea attended by supporters and local leaders including the Major of Busselton Grant Henley and Local Member for Vasse Libby Mettam. Participation in the walk was a perfect example of ‘Thinking Global and Acting Local.’
Prior to the walk, on Wednesday 7th September, three students from BSHS conducted an interactive presentation with our Year 6 students about The Tenderfeet Program, which made links to our Inquiry topic on Sustainability. Students learnt about the importance of education for girls in Kibera as the key to address poverty, hunger, health, inequality and sustainability.
